Prepaid Phone Cards
Frequently Asked Questions: Prepaid Phone Cards

1. What is a prepaid phone card?
A prepaid phone card enables you to purchase a predetermined amount of time to use for making phone calls at a reduced rate.

2. Can I use any phone to call?
A call can be made from any touchtone phone, however there is an additional FCC mandated fee to pay phone providers for using their phone to make a toll free call.

3. How does the card work?
In order to make a call you must access a carrier's network (or lines). When you dial the first set of numbers, you dial into a platform also called a switch which is a big computer. The platform contains all the voice prompts telling you to put in you pin number so you will know how much money you have on the card, then put in your destination number and tell you how much time you have left. The platform then directs your call over the carrier's network to your destination. The platform triggers the two minute warning so you have enough time to end the call.

4. How do I know how many minutes are left on the card?
After entering your PIN number the number of minutes remaining on the card will be announced. You will also hear an announcement when the card is about to run out (the person you're talking to will not hear this announcement)

5. How do I place a call using a phone card?
From any touch tone phone in the USA, simply dial our local access number if applicable or toll-free number, then when prompted, enter your PIN number under the scratch off, and finally prompted, dial the number you wish you call. All of these numbers can be stored in the memory of autodial phones for speed dialing.

6. Can others use my phone card or PIN number?
Yes. But not at the same time. This is a great way to get family members or loved ones to call more often!

7. How many minutes are on the card?
There are 200 domestic minutes on the card. International rates vary. See chart below.

8. What are the fees and additional charges on the card?
The only fees we deduct are as follows:
Taxes: $1.00 or 10% Federal Taxes (your home phones deducts up to $1.70 or 17% depending on where you live) Administrative Fee: 25¢ for a weekly administration fee. Your home phone bill could deduct up to $4.95 for a monthly recurring charge and a $1.50 line fee for each line. Using phone cards saves money.) Pay Phone Charges: There is a 59¢ charge for using a pay phone.

9. What do I do if I have problems with my phone card?
You will find a toll-free number to call for customer service. Customer service has a logoff you phone call and can pin point the problem for you. Customer service can add back time if there is an error. If customer services is unable to correct the problem, contact us directly. We will be happy to assist you in correcting any problem. When reporting a problem you will be asked to provide your pin number, your destination number and the nature of your problem. These are the only two places that can help you.

10. What do I do if I get a busy signal?
Since there is no charge until the call connects, just hang up and call again. Phone calls are very complex and each call uses different lines. Often foreign countries have limited lines to connect into their switches. Sometimes there are busy signals.

11. How are the minutes on a phone card and actual "talk time" determined?
When you purchase any product, you should take time to research and "know what you are buying"; telecommunications services, including phone cards, are no exception. All of these factors affect exactly how much "talk time" you will get out of a card. Our cards start decrementing minutes after the call is connected others start the minute you dial into the platform. Read all information before you purchase the card. Know what you are buying.
